Google aren’t the type of company to miss out. On Anything. Is there a pie they haven’t sent their spiders into yet? Google Pies, that’d be nice actually.
But not with spiders in.
Google have launched a blog search. Seems very nice too, everything you’d expect from a Google search – i.e. not a lot except speed, reliability and pretty good accuracy. It certainly found all my rubbish with escape crate in the search box.
Here are a few features:
- Apparently the aim of the search is to include any site that offers an RSS or ATOM feed.
- It seems you can sign up to an RSS feed of your search text. I’m assuming that this will update every time a new result is spidered. Which could lead to some interesting sidebar ideas… hmmmmm
- You can search using the normal Google operators like “link:”, “site:” and “intitle:”. Plus the addition of blog specific operators – “inblogtitle:”, “inposttitle:”, “inpostauthor:” and “blogurl:”
Certainly an interesting start (it’s a beta as usual) and if they can add some functionality like Technorati etc. it could be very interesting.
